With National Cleaning week coming next week, it’s a great time to remind you to give your plumbing system some much-needed attention. Over time, plumbing pipes can become clogged with buildup from soap, hair, food, and other debris, leading to slow drains and even backups. Some simple and regular cleaning can help keep your system running smoothly and prevent costly repairs down the line. In this week’s post, we want to share some tips and tricks for cleaning your plumbing pipes effectively.
Though a simple spray and wipe down with some 409 to the outside of your pipes makes for a funny video, here at Public Service Plumbers, it is not exactly what we recommend. We got a quick tip from our General Manager last week on proper maintenance for your pipes, but this week we wanted to expand even more. So, if you are experiencing issues with your pipes or drains, try out a few of the below methods:
- Use a drain cover: A drain cover can help prevent hair, soap scum, and other debris from going down the drain and causing clogs. It’s an easy and inexpensive solution to help maintain your shower drain.
- Clean the drain regularly: Remove the drain cover and clean the drain regularly using bleach, vinegar, or a drain cleaning solvent to remove debris or any backup.
- To avoid harming or clogging your pipes, be sure to avoid flushing non-degradable items such as wipes, feminine hygiene products, and cotton balls which can lead to clogs and damage to your plumbing system.
And as a bonus tip: if your system is already clogged or your pipes are damaged, give Public Service Plumbers a call at (469) 998-3813 to have a licensed and experienced technician come out to diagnose and fix your problem today!
