If you’re like most homeowners, when you run some hot water in the sink or the shower, it takes a few seconds to a minute for the water to get hot. That’s because the water that’s in the pipes has no way to stay hot, so you have to wait until hot water from the water heater pushes out the existing water in the line before you can have hot water. But with a hot water circulation system, you can have hot water immediately, the second you turn on the faucet. It can save you a lot of water over the course of a year…some estimates are as much as 10,000 gallons a year in a four bedroom home with two bathrooms.
With a water circulation system, you attach a small pump to your hot water heater, which keeps a small amount of water moving through the pipes at all times. Instead of running one way, the water circulates through your pipes and back into the hot water heater. As a result the water in your pipes is always hot. There is the additional cost of running the circulation pump, but most are extremely efficient, using less energy than a 25 watt light bulb.
At Public Service Plumbers, we sell and install the Grundfos Comfort System, a top of the line hot water circulation system. We will take your call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can send our technicians to your home or business anytime, day or night. Our plumbers are all trained and certified.
