Imagine getting hot water instantaneously when you turn on the showerโno more standing around waiting for the cold water to pass through. In addition, what if you could have hot water right away and save as much as 10% on your annual water bill? With a hot water circulation system, you can reduce your annual water usage by as much as 15,000 gallons!
A hot water circulation system uses a pump to deliver hot water on demand. You don’t have to store water in a tank, and you can use existing water lines to supply your home with hot water.
At Public Service Plumbers, we recommend the Grundfos G595916 “Recirculation Pump Comfort System.” This system diverts cold water with a thermostatically controlled valve, so that when you turn on hot water, from the shower or a tap, the first drop of water will be hot. The system also has a timer, so that you can turn it off at times when you wouldn’t have demand for hot water, such as the middle of the night.
The installation of this water circulation system is simple and can typically be done in a single visit, usually less than an hour. It’s a highly efficient pump, using less electricity than a light bulb. Once it’s installed, you’ll probably forget that it’s even there, as it’s extremely quiet and virtually maintenance free.
