As cold winter weather becomes a bit more common in Dallas, homeowners need to be prepared to protect water lines underneath the house. Your water doesn’t need to freeze solid to cause damage to your pipes. As water starts to become ice, it expands, and with no place to go, it’ll take out a pipe within hours. That’s why it’s so important to take steps to winterize your home, and do it early, so you don’t get caught in an early arctic chill.
Our Home Winterization Services
We’ll conduct a thorough analysis of your plumbing system, identifying anything that poses a risk in sub-zero (Celsius) temperatures:
- When appropriate, our technicians will install heat tape, which will prevent water from freezing
- Our team will ensure that all exposed pipes are wrapped in insulation and can install heat sources at connections or other critical points
In addition, if you have outside water lines (for hoses or other needs), we’ll drain the lines and open the valves, so that there’s no risk of broken pipes. If you have a vacation home or other property that doesn’t get used in the winter, we can drain water from the toilet, water heater, pipes and any other location, including sink and tub traps. We’ll also add anti-freeze, if necessary, when water lines can’t be totally drained.
