Pressure Assist Toilets
Pressure assist toilets use pressurized air to increase the efficiency and power of a flush. Pressure assist toilets have a pressure tank placed inside the toilet itself that operates like a water balloon: when water fills the toilet, it also fills the pressure tank and is held in reserve under pressure. Once the flush valve is opened, gravity and pressure combine for a powerful, if not explosive, flush.
The advantage of a power assist toilet is directly related to the power of the flush. Power assist toilets are very effective in clearing toilet bowls of waste, resulting in few, if any, clogs. Additionally, since water is held inside the pressure tank, condensation doesn’t form on the outside of the toilet.
Are the Issues with Pressure Assist Toilets to Consider?
Due to there simply being more “moving parts” involved in pressure assist toilets, they tend to require maintenance more often than gravity induced flushing toilets. Additionally, they may cost a bit more than traditional toilets. Lastly, some people find them to be too loud upon flushing. While these may be negatives for some people, if you have chronic problems with water pressure, clogs, or other issues, a pressure assist toilet may make the most sense for you and your family.
